Warmup 3/23- Waiting Room

Warmup-3-22Drove a friend to the doctor this morning and found the waiting room to be full of great subject matter. It's funny how the way we relate to each other evolves in our later years... and evidently everyone wears workout clothes.

Expressive Walks

Warmup-3-7

Now I'm getting warmed up a little bit; these sketches had a nice flow to them. The lady on bottom didn't look a whole lot like that, but I like who she morphed into.

I had to give a presentation in class and I think my brain was trying to convince me that I would have a better time drawing instead. There was a time when I didn't mind getting in front of people, but something got lost since then... then again, maybe there's something in the air. These folks don't look like they were having the greatest day either.

Today's sketch is a FA-200 Sport Plane from a book called "The Japan of Today", circa 1970.

Warmup 3/2- More People

Did some more drawings of people today. These were all done by taking a only a quick glance at the person, then looking back for more details after I'd sketched most of it out.
Warmup-3-2
What I'm trying to work on when I draw people is to go beyond just "see it, draw it" and really refine the drawing down to a character. -- to basically record my impression of the person in a very defined way. The result may or may not be accurate but it presents itself that way.

Today's sketches aren't a terribly good example in my eyes-- sometimes it just falls flat --but I think I get that result more often than I used to.
